Life: Friday Ramblings

best board game to play with games for a family game night

We can't stop playing...
...Monopoly Builders (link)!  At first I was not a fan of the game, but after giving it a real chance, we all LOVED it.  Unlike the original Monopoly, it doesn't take ten years to finish.  Also unlike the original, Monopoly Builders is a game of strategy.  You're less likely to win the game because of good luck and more likely to win because you thought everything out.  Apparently I'm not the only one that feels this way.  The kids keep asking to play and my husband hasn't turned down that request yet!

I was really freaking PISSED OFF because...
...the Christmas tree juice from the basement spilled out onto our carpet.  After trying to clean, dry, clean some more, and then dry again, we learned that there was NO saving this rug.  ...and that's coming from a dry cleaner's daughter!

Luckily, we had a new...
...living room rug stored in the basement.  When we redid the home office this year, we got two new rugs so that both spaces would match in our open floor plan.  We didn't put the second rug out yet because I didn't want Loki, The Puppy of Mischief, to ruin it.  Well, I guess we were left with no choice!  Here's to hoping our new rug doesn't become a wee wee pad.

We're really looking forward to...
...our upcoming trip upstate to go snowtubing with our closest friends!  Unfortunately, the place we went to last year was already booked.  Fortunately, Villa Roma was available and they have onsite snow tubing.  While we won't be surrounded by professional skiers like last year thank God, I have a feeling we'll have even more fun being at a place with amateurs like us!

What are your Friday Ramblings?

  1. I love board games, but I don't play to win. I play to mess with everyone else and throw their strategy off course. It's much more entertaining for me to watch everyone get frustrated than to actually win. Evil, I know hahaha!

There just hasn't been enough snow here yet to even think of snow tubing. It's weird! We get a little, but it melts pretty quickly. Right now my front yard is a pool of mud.

    1. hahaha You sound like you'd be a lot of fun to play with! We had one storm where it really accumulated and resulted in a snow, but it's been brutally cold around here. What a change.. normally we have the milder Winters.

  2. I always hated Monopoly type of games as an adult. I prefer word games and such. I’m surprised there’s snow, as we’ve been like Theresa, thank God! Have fun on your trip. We are still in lockdown mode. Grrrrrr

    1. Enjoy the mild Winter! You can always explore nature while in lockdown, especially if the Winter is so mild. Either way, stay safe. :)

How is Loki? We haven't heard about him in a few weeks.

    1. My little Loki poo is such a good boy!! I have to send you a video of him running and his ears flapping. He's freaking cute. He listens so well, that I can put him in his bed, say "stay", and he will NOT walk out of it until he's told he can. He will cry and whine and beg to get out, but he won't step off of it. It's amazing to me that such a young pup can be so well disciplined.

    2. That is good, you have to strictly discipline them at the young age, both pups and kids! They have to know who is the master/mistress of the house.

    3. I did it well with my daughter and I did it well with Loki. My son, I could use some help with. All he has to do is shed a tear and my heart freaking melts. It's so bad.

  4. haha you don't like the one that goes on for years? Never tried builders. Hopefully pup doesn't use it as a pee pad. But hey, at least he'll have lot of room.

    1. It's funny b/c in our Monopoly box there is a piece of paper with all of the information for a Monopoly game my brother and I started about 20 years ago. One day, we will finish that game!
