Life: Friday Ramblings

We had a really nice...
...New Year's Eve!  We spent it at home, in our pajamas, having some innocent fun as a family.  We played Monopoly Builders, watched different NYE celebrations throughout the world, and drank a whole bottle of wine.  I forgot to get noisemakers, so we went old school and banged pots with spoons which the kids enjoyed way too much.  For the grand finale, we ran outside in our pajamas and bathrobes to watch our neighbor set off a bunch of fireworks in the street.  That's when I realized, we weren't the only ones having a quiet New Year's Eve at home.  Our entire block was!

Everyone around us has...
...COVID19.  Sadly, I know more people with COVID than without at this point.  We seem to be part of the vast minority holding our own so far.  Although, now that the kids are back in school, I expect to get it within the month.  If we do get it, I hope it's the milder strain that seems to be racing through Long Island.

Nanny has been...
...feeling MUCH better.  While she still tires easily and gets out of breath walking down the hallway, the improvement is significant.  She can finally sleep through the night without gasping for air and can do simple tasks like make the bed.  Here's to her continued improvement.

I'm way too sad that...
...the holiday season is over and that Winter recess ended.  After a whole year of planning, it would be nice if the season lasted just a tad bit longer.  The pain was lessened by the fun we had during Winter recess, but that has since ended as well.  We played lots of board games, experimented in the kitchen, found new nature trails to explore, and watched movies until late every single night.  To say that I don't want Winter recess to end is an understatement!  Although, the kids seemed happy to go back to school.  Go figure..

What are your Friday Ramblings?

  1. It is possible you'd turn out positive if you tested yoursel, it seems everyone is pretty much positive on it, we just don't know it. Buy some AHCC to have it in case you get it, it helped me last spring to kick it out of my system in a few days. I think I had omicron as well a few weeks ago, but I'm not sure. I'm a witch that drinks so many supplements and natural immune system boosters that it is impossible to know, even if I feel bad it goes away in a day or two. Our schools will be online again from Monday.

    1. I'm at the point where I'm so used to the new normal, that I've grown to like it. Working from home, smaller crowds, less demands, more freedom, etc., are all things that I don't want to go away just yet. The one thing that I would not like is if we go back to online schooling. That was awful and my daughter really suffered.

  2. I feel as though all my friends or their spouses had Covid over the holidays. It was crazy! I suppose with school starting up, it won’t die down anytime soon. I am so tired of the grocery store being my only outing!

Glad your grandma is improving and you had fun with the kids over break.

    1. Thank you!! You should make a day out of finding a snowy owl. It really was exciting and to the bird is so surreal to see in person.

  3. Glad Nanny is doing well!

It does seem like everyone has Covid right now. We still have not had it here in my house though, knock on wood! Allison was sick early this week, but I think she was just tired from staying up too late over winter break and had a hard time adjusting to early morning routine again because she was up giggling away on her computer Tuesday and Wednesday night but tried pulling the sick card to get out of going to school. No bueno, get your shoes on and get in the car LOL.

    1. LOL Did she try to run the thermometer under hot water? Although, I doubt that would even work these days now that they're digital.
