Life: Friday Ramblings

I was real happy to...
...pick up Nanny from the hospital!  She's still severely out of breathe and forced to bed rest, but it looks like she's out of the danger zone.  Someone must have been watching over her because it feels like a miracle that she's home and fairly well.  I've been making a point to cook mass amounts of food so they have a simple meal to heat up and get there every couple of days to clean what I can.  Despite all that I've done to try and make her comfortable, I didn't see her brighten up until the day that I brought my son to visit her.  He really is "Nanny's boy"!

We took time to...
...do our Christmas scavenger hunt (link).  It was REALLY late at night, but the kids insisted they still wanted to do it.  We had a blast, but were disappointed to see some of the homes on the Christmas Lights map were already turned off for the night.

Nanny asked us to...
...make it possible to have Christmas at her house.  She can't go anywhere just yet, so she asked nicely if we can bring Christmas to her!  That means this weekend will be full of cooking and baking.  We'll be making our annual cookie boxes filled with ricotta cookies, red velvet cheesecake brownie bites, and pignoli cookies.

I'm laughing at...
...my husband's poor judgement while moving the Elf on the Shelf.  He hung Elfie's arms around our tree topper Angel's head so it looks like they're under a mistletoe and getting their smooch on.  He claimed to not realize what it looked like.  Yea, well, I'm the one that had to answer all the kid's questions that morning!  I told them Elfie was "getting blessed".  hahaha

What are your Friday Ramblings?

  1. Glad to hear Nanny is home for the holidays. How lovely of everyone to accommodate her wishes and have Christmas there. I am sure she'll be thrilled to be with you all.

LOL at the elf. This is the first year I didn't do it since we got them. Even though the girls are too old, they always loved the shenanigans he was up to and still came down to look for him every morning. Yes, he may have gotten his smooch on with the angel here a time or two as well!

    1. I never even would have thought about the Elf getting the smooch on with the angel.. probably b/c I'm too short to even touch the top of the tree, let along hang something on it. hahaha

  2. Good news about your grandmother! I’m glad you’ll be able to spend Xmas with her. My grandson told me his elf is a girl recently. I have no idea why he thinks that, but that elf has sure been up to no good at their house! Lol!

    1. Does she have a skirt? Our girl elf was wearing a skirt.

    2. No, it’s the classic elf on a shelf.

  3. Hope you will have a nice Christmas this year at your grandma's and hope she gets better by then. I cannot believe it is already here, I don't feel the festive spirit at all.
Both my father and grandmother died at Christmas and New Years' Eve, so for us this time of the year always has a bad omen.

    1. I remember you saying this. I'm sorry that the holidays have such bad memories for you. Is there anything you particularly enjoy that gets you in the festive spirit? It's a little superficial, but I discovered hot chocolate bombs and they seem to do the trick. LOL

  4. If you had a star, elf would have been making out with pure nuclear energy.
