Life: Friday Ramblings

We had a great time being...
...reunited with family that we haven't seen in almost two years.  My uncle treated us all to dinner and my cousin stayed for an old school slumber party.  We watched Free Bird because it's almost Thanksgiving, ate mass amounts of rainbow cookies, and drank a few glasses of wine.

Since we felt like...
...little piggies after stuffing our faces the night before, we decided to go for a long walk.  Our goal was to hit 10,000 steps.  Naturally, I took her to the Bayard Arboretum since it's one of my favorite places.  The Bayard is usually very pretty, but it was extra beautiful that Sunday morning.  It was really like an Autumn wonderland.  Since I won't post a pic without my cousin knowing, here's a snapshot of us taking a much deserved break at the Cutting Tea House overlooking the Connetquot River.

I wish that...
...I moved the camera out of the shot because this could totally be the cover of our annual photobook!

I'm still cracking up from...
...the class I had to take for work.  They made me do a presentation on "Give three reasons why a bunny would make a good security guard".  Talk about a waste of company time...  While I wasn't happy to present this, I did get a kick out of thinking of possible answers.  Give me your best ones in the comments!

We're trying to plan...
...a weekend trip to Jim Thorpe, PA.  It's close enough to my family that we could stay with them and it's known for having some of the rarest birds in the Northeast.

I can't bring myself...
...to pick up Thor's ashes.  We got the call that they're ready almost a week ago now, and I still can't do it.  My husband already said that he won't, which means it's up to me, but I'm just not there yet.  Imagine what the vet must think of us?  Sigh...

What are your Friday Ramblings?

  1. I’ll bet the vet faces that quite often. That’s interesting about Jim Thorpe having rare birds. I wonder why??

A bunny? Do they have a good sense of smell? Maybe they can smell intruders. Weird question!

  3. I never had a dog cremated but yards are fairly big in south carolina so it's not uncommon for burial.

They put my Zelda in a cardboard coffin. 😭 It's been about five years, but it still hurts.

I understand your loss and I'm sorry

  4. I could have swore I commented on this one. Probably went to spam. I wouldn't worry about what the vet thinks. You're probably not the first one that's had a hard time retrieving ashes. We all deal with grief differently, and I'm sure they understand you'll be there when you're ready.

That is a lovely family photo!
