List: Top ten favorite pig themed home decor and trinkets!

Today is a national holiday.  Bonus points to whoever can guess what it is!  Insert dramatic drum roll...  Today is national pig day!  Yes, seriously..

I've always had a strange fondness for pigs.  Let me prove it!  Growing up, I would make paper signs and scream out "Save the pigs!" in protest whenever my mom made a ham.  The gift I received from my grandmother for my sweet 16 was a sophisticated Lenox pig which I still treasure today!  Finally, every March 1st, I would celebrate national pig day.  My mom would allow me to invite 10 friends to our house where would munch on pigs in a blanket, snuggle with pig stuffies while singing karaoke, and play with my ouji board.  Everyone would bring a fun piggy bank wrapped in cellophane for us to trade and take home.  To this day, people still wish me a Happy National Pig Day!

Since I'm an adult now and absolutely no fun at all, I'm going to settle with celebrating on R&W instead.  Here's a list of my top ten favorite pig themed trinkets.  For the record, I don't own all of these home decor items but that doesn't mean they're not on my wish list!  Someone forward this to my husband with a winky face, please..

Since you all know how I feel about cookie jars, a ceramic pig cookie jar is number one on my list!  For the holidays, I swap out my pig cookie jar for a seasonal one instead.  When the holidays are over, the grinning pig shown above makes it easier to pack up my festive decor.  My adorably plump pig is from Pier1.  Since they went out of business, I tried my best to find the next best thing.

This doormat is the perfect addition to a farmhouse chic home!  The neutral colors and simplicity of the pig make it more attractive than a cartoonish type design found on other pig themed door mats.

While I would normally agree that pig shaped serveware is a bit much, this dip bowl and spoon set is absolutely adorable!  As your guests or yourself digs through the dip, they'll find the appropriate saying of "It's time to pig out"!

This little guy is adorable, unique, and bedazzled!  I can picture this on my nightstand holding the little things I need before bed, like my hair ties for my bedtime ponytail that I always misplace.  The pop of color on the wings and the gold accents are absolutely fabulous!

This exact cork caddy is on display on top of my kitchen cabinets.  This adorable pig is filled as in literally bursting with all different corks.  I fell in love with him because of the teal accents that match the rest of my home.  The chalkboard plate can be used to put whatever fun thing you want it to say.  Spoiler alert, mine uncreatively says "CORKS".

This flying pig bell would not only look super cute right outside someone's back door, but it would be also be functional.  You could ring it when it's time for the kiddies to come back inside.  You could ring it during outside gatherings to indicate that the food is served or a toast is about to be made.  You could even ring it to scare away wildlife or just to annoy your neighbors!  The possibilities are endless making this one an absolute must.

Your garden is the perfect place to put a little piggie without seeming like a crazy pig lady!

This adorable pig cutting board can be displayed in your kitchen, used to chop up your veggies, or to act as the serving tray as your meat and cheese board.  This is the perfect item for pig lovers because is dual purpose, part decor and part functional!

This super cute dish towel reads "Kitchen Closed - this piggy's had it".  The message is right, the pig is adorable, and the colors are neutral enough to match anything.  We always have two dish towels on hand.  One that we actually use and one that we hang on the stove just to look pretty.  To be clear, this would be the pretty towel.

These galvanized pig planters are the perfect piggy item to add to your home!  They could house some succulents and hang out inside or can be filled with seasonal plants and hang out outside.  Personally, I would put these on my front or back door steps to greet everyone as they came to my house.

  1. How come you don't have a pig then? At least the miniature one? We used to have about six or eight pigs a year while I was growing up at our farm. Grandpa would give them names, feed them, pet them and then kill them and eat them in November LOL I once freed them from their pen and after that I was kept locked during each pig slaughter. It is ridiculous how people will eat pigs but not dogs even though pigs are ten times smarter, which is a proven fact.
I think I like number ten best! The only pig decor I have is the bowl from Theresa, I've found a green evergreen ball and put it in it so it looks like it has a green globe growing from its back.

    1. Ten is super cute and definitely one of my favorites followed by the dip bowl. I do love my pig cookie jar that is the cousin to your bowl, but now that Pier1 is out of business, I couldn't find it for my list! I would set the piggies free too. I want a pet pig. I often tell my husband "Imagine a little pig snorting and showing his little snout out from under the blankets". He doesn't bite. Where he's from, they grill pigs on spits and then pick at the skin. They consider it a delicacy. I consider it Lord of Flies barbaric! Literally makes me sick to watch.

  2. What in the world???? Ok, I love penguins and daschunds, but I’ve never celebrated them like that! Lol, and what’s with the ouija board on pig day? I’m humored by people’s favorite animals. My oldest loves owls, middle child likes pugs, and my son loves red pandas.

    1. LOL We were trying to communicate with past celebrity pigs. No, just kidding. It's just what we were into those day. Typical sleepover fun, ouija boards and karaoke machines. I grew up with (2) daschunds. They are the best!

    2. Omg, what were their names? I don’t have the patience for pets, but if I had two daschunds, I’d name them Spiro and Millhouse from the Nixon era. I have no idea why; I just think that would be cute.

    3. The oldest was Reggie (although officially Sir Reginald Winston) and the youngest was Pip (although officially Sir Phillip Bluda). They surprisingly grew into their names!

  3. I love all things piggy. I still tell Jason that one day he's doing to come home and find we have a pet pig. Even though the pandemic put our house selling on hold for the time being, we're still hunting for land that I can operate a small farm on. I'm not sure if we'll get pigs for it, but I do want a few highland cows and Valais Black Nose Sheep (if I can figure out how to get them to the US). Like Dezzy, the planters are my favorite. I'm going to have to add them to my wish list.

    1. Is he receptive a pet pig? My husband threatens to eat it. You're better than me if you can run a farm. Now I need to look up these mysterious sheep. Are they super cute? Yes, LOVE the planters. I remember seeing them at Homegoods last year, but they weren't in the greatest condition.

    2. Them sheep are like puppets, you wouldn't believe they're alive if you haven't seen them running around you :) Highland cows are the cutest thing ever. We have water buffalos on a farm around my city as they seem to like the climate, and they are also very cute. I'd like a donkey, myself, or a llama or alpaca.

    3. No, he would not be thrilled if I surprised him with a pet pig. However, he has mentioned that if I do start a little farm, he'd be okay with a pig or two then. The sheep, OMG they look like stuffed animals. So friggen' cute!

Oh, Dezzy, I fully intend on getting a few alpacas as well. There's a farm down the road from us that has about 10 of them and I just want to wander over and pet them every time I drive by. I've already been pricing highland cows. I can get a 3 year old for like $600! I thought they would cost more than that. I mean, that's dog prices here! And they can live to be 20. I will have many years with my cow babies!

  4. lol I just saw a pig mailbox today. Missed that one. I'm still waiting for your pet pig. Been a good decade since you said you'd get that.
