List: Twelve romantic gift ideas to give your sweetheart this Valentine's Day!

Ladies and gentleman, it's officially February.  It was around this time last year that we had our last month of normalcy.  I remember the first case of COVID19 hitting my area when an ill father escorted his daughter to the school's annual Sweetheart Dance.  Because of this, I'm changing my tune.  Normally I would encourage everyone to spend their time and money on experiences to celebrate Valentine's Day, but this year we'll have to get creative.  Instead of going out and you know, risking a deadly disease, let's think of gift ideas that will trigger an at home experience or a memory of a past experience.  See below for your 2021 Valentine's Day gift guide!

1.  Picnic Basket Set
When I think of romance, I think of the romantic picnic settings depicted in my favorite novels.  This picnic basket comes with everything you need to recreate those romantic scenes in your backyard, at the park, at a local winery, or on your living room floor.  Fun fact - I've still never actually been on a picnic.

Something that became very trendy in 2020 is movie projectors.  Many people were hosting social distance movie nights in their backyards!  You can gift this to your sweetheart, light up the fire, pour a glass of wine, and snuggle up while watching your favorite rom com.  Just because it's a pandemic, doesn't mean you have to squash your movie date night.

Pick a favorite photo.  It could be a scenic shot from one of your past travels, a couples shot from your honey moon, or maybe even a family picture.  After you gift it to your sweetheart, spend the night putting it together.  When done, you can use Mod Podge to preserve it forever or just undo it so you can repeat the fun next year!

What's your idea of a romantic gift?

  1. I spy with my little eye that number 7 is actually a rather blatant winky wink to your husband. Better admit it, we know you here too well :)
I will give my husband Henry Cavill free bed action coupons, not that he ever needs coupons for that with me.....
And ewww... why would anyone put slippers in a microwave and then use it for heating food? Ewwww....

    1. Ok, I admit it! I reallllyyyy want that birdhouse, especially to put it on the other side of our bush that way everything is symmetrical. I'm sure Henry would appreciate that gift. The slippers don't bother me so much since I don't really use a microwave other then to heat up liquids..BUT..I did see something gross last night. This man put a piece of salmon in his coffee pot, lemonade where the water would go, and broccoli where you put the coffee grounds. Then he hit "brew" and made himself a meal. Bleh..still a little queasy from that one but more wondering WHY anyone would do that!?

    2. Yes, I've seen that clip, they also cook hot dogs like that and Marta Stewart once did scrambled eggs with espresso machine (with the hot vapour from it). Not to mention that whole show on Food Network that used to make meals on an upturned iron LOL

  2. Those are fun ideas, Jax. My favorite for us is the last one and I might have to do that for a special anniversary.I’ve only ever made one of those books, for my daughter’s wedding shower, and it took me a month! I freaking love the bird house and it’s similar to ones I’ve been eyeing for our backyard, away from the house. I want big and colorful so it’s show piece. The price is the downside. My son and DIL gave me a personalized puzzle for Christmas and I’m almost finished. It’s 1000 pieces and us a photo from their fake engagement shoot (they were already legally married last summer, but since we had to cancel the reception due to Covid, I told them to just use the down payment for the photographer on some outdoor photos).

    1. Are you going to hang the puzzle when you're done or just break it up to do again one day? That's such a cute gift. There are so many nice birdhouses. I did a lot of research on them so just be careful of the hole size. lol You don't want a starling or something awful moving in there. If a starling moved into mine, I'd take it down. They're such nasty bullies!

  3. Ok, the bully thing is something to keep in mind! The puzzle was a really hard one, but I'm not sure where I'd hang it. We have puzzles hanging in our basement, but they are of trip destinations we've been (Arches, NYC, Vegas, etc.) This would not go with that! I will have to email you a photo of it; I think my daughter and I will be finishing it today!

  4. I love these ideas. Especially that birdhouse! It LIGHTS UP!!!!! I also checked out the slippers. Seems I'm not the only who loves them. Darn things are sold out but are on my wish list.

On a side note, I have the bird cam up. Wish me luck on actually getting pictures from it :)

    Warmly,
    Elsie

  5. Not that I think Hallmark day should be celebrated, but a photobook is a neat idea. I got one of those card sets, it's a bit more naughty though lol

  6. Great ideas and I would like most of them for myself! I decided to get Jason some magnetic poetry. The spicy set for our eyes only. We were browsing the $1 store last month and found some of the books that you fill in the blank ("I love the way you ____" and "You make me laugh when _____"). We thought it would be fun to each grab one and fill them out and exchange on Valentine's Day.
