Life: Friday Ramblings

Friday Ramblings

Luckily I was on my toes because...
...my husband and son made an evil plot against my favorite vampire pig.  I was able to save him.  For yet another year, he gets to grace us with his presence.  This little guy is our only piece of Halloween decor which makes him that much more special!  The rest of our house is decorated with lovely Autumn pieces.

I'm getting discouraged because...
…Pinterest has turned its back on me!  I was getting great visibility and traffic through there, but whatever happened, they put me in Pinterest prison.  Now I'm lucky if I get one hit a day.

I'm in complete shock that...
...tomorrow is Halloween!!  How can it be that October came and gone so quick?  I honestly feel like last year's Halloween just passed.  Now my squishy baby is a little boy and my little princess is practically a teenager.  For the love of God, make it slow down!

We're debating how to...
...celebrate the holiday.  We're not sure if trick or treating is even allowed, and if it is, if we're going to participate.  We got the kiddies costumes, but we may just choose to do some fun activities at home instead of the typical trick or treating.

As a follow up to last week...
...my daughter ended up passing her math test and I won the fight for her to get extra help!

We're wishing my husband's good friends...
...happy trails as they move across country for this new stage in their life!  They're moving from Long Island to Las Vegas.  In celebration of them living out their dream, we're having a Sunday gravy complete with raviolis, meatballs, and sausage.  How's the Italian food in Vegas?  While my husband will miss them terribly since they acted like adopted parents to him, our poor little pooch will be heart broken!  Every time our Thor jumps in the car, you can see his excitement because he thinks he's going to their house.  It's adorable!  Please join me in wishing them the best of luck.

What are your Friday Ramblings?

  1. Oh, not that fanged fugliness again :) Don't tell me Pinterest has gone Facebook and Instragram, showing your posts to others only if you pay!

    1. You must admit that he’s a little cute! My husband staged a conspiracy and tried to break him, but I sniffed it out a mile away. Leave my piggie alone. :). Pinterest just has so many algorithm adjustments that all your work to get traffic gets erased with no warning. It’s funny though my scenic pins seem to always do well. That’s one thing they don’t change. :)

    2. You should consult my sister Theresa, she had about 2,5 million hits at Pinterest last month :)

    3. In August, I had 1 million monthly viewers. They flagged me as spam and it dropped to about 350K and remained steady. They safelisted my account after I complained. A couple of weeks ago I went from thousands of daily views to less than 100 a day. Pinterest claims I wasn't flagged again. It's frustrating b/c I followed their algorithm rules and spent lots of time creating fresh, new pins like they wanted. Call me discouraged, but I'm not sure if I'd do all that again!

    4. Such complex clustereff indeed. They probably did it to lower your revenue if you have it. Facebook once tagged my spy page as being a clickbait and wouldn't share my posts for weeks even though I've never had clickbait posts, only to admit that I don't have clickbait posts a month later without covering any possible losses I've had due to that.

    5. Whenever I see clickbait, I purposely ignore it. I'm more likely to click a link that is straight forward. I think you're right about their reasoning. They just want to screw up everyone's income (if they have it).

  2. Ok, honestly I’m with Dez on that pig! LOL! Not the cutest pig I’ve ever seen . . .
We are going to my daughters for Halloween to help with the grandkids since my son-in-law works weekends. My grandson will be Elmo and granddaughter is Cookie Monster.
Do you get money for views on Pinterest? I just followed you. I’m not on there that much though.
Hey! Now you can go visit Vegas at least!

    1. My pig is adorable and I won't be told otherwise. LOL!! So cute with the Sesame Street theme. Cookie Monster is one of my favorites. Have they ever been to Sesame Place in PA? I don't get money for view on Pinterest, but it accounted for more than 1/2 my blogging views. Pinterest is a great tool if you're looking for organic blog traffic. You have such lovely photos of your adventures that would be perfect to drive traffic! I'm going to peek at your boards now. :)

  3. No, they’ve never been, but just turned 3 and 1 so haven’t had much time for travel. We took a number of pilgrimages to Storybook Forest/Idlewild/Mr Rogers Neighborhood with our kids, so I’m guessing PA trips will be on their radar. Jax, I’m old, so I don’t care about my internet traffic. LOL! I could be your Mom! My boards are boring, but feel free to comment :) Have a fun Halloween with your adorable kids!

    1. Well the traffic drives to my page which then makes me money. So I guess the real answer is indirectly, yes. :) Same to you, Happy Halloween!

  4. Pinterest sure is fickle. Seems they want to screw you no matter what they do. Which I am starting to think is a ploy to get you to pay. The pig is a winner. May be a bit ugly, but works for the cat lol stinks they are moving, but going where life takes them is the way. At least now you have a reason to visit Vegas.

  5. I do love the pig!
Pinterest is my bread and butter. I get most of my blog traffic from there. I hate Insta, Facebook and Twitter because they hardly ever direct traffic to my blog. It seems to go up and down though, so I'd give it a few more days to see if things turn around before giving up on it completely.
