Life: Friday Ramblings

long island sites; long island tour spots

The latest stop on our local tour was...
...a drive by of the Montauk Lighthouse.  I remember climbing to the top every year as a kid.
The view is still gorgeous and and the sound of the waves are still audible from the road.
While the lighthouse and the scenery didn't change much, we were sad to only wave hello from the car.
Peep the man in the ocean swimming.. we see you!  This a quarantine, Mr!  Rant over.
It was fun to drive through my old stomping grounds and reminisce.  When this is over, we'll have to return.

On the way home we stalked...
...our governor's handsome brother and did a drive by of his Southampton home.
You can't see much through the bushes, but I promise his house is located just behind them!

I'm real proud of...
...my green thumb!  After purchasing a bunch of fresh basil, I planted a leftover stem.
That leftover stem has flourished into a gorgeous basil plant with lots of new leaves to eat!

I can't bring myself to finish...
...my latest read.  I started it in March and am still only halfway through.
It started out decent and then became about a forced love affair with scenes that leave me blushing!

I embarrassed my hubby when...
...we stopped at the Southampton McDonald's drive thru for lunch.
I opened the car windows, blasted the governor's theme song, and started singing.
My hubby shushed me, called me ridiculous, and rolled up the windows.  No regrets!

I'm giggling at...
...the search inquiries that bring up R&W according to Google Console.
We've had "ghost in purse", "pig Friday", "I want smush smush", and lots of "Mushy Tushys".

We're showing off our...
...manicures by Mushy!  She's been painting our nails and stamping them.
Today my nails are a pale pink with heart stamps and ice cream cone stamps on each nail.
This quarantine is bringing out all sorts of new styles!

We wanted to give a giant THANK YOU...
...to the local fire department, our family, and our friends for participating in Mushy's birthday parade.
You all helped to make my baby girl's birthday extra special.
We got the whole thing on video so that we will never forget this special day and event.
Thank you, thank you, a million times, thank you!

What are your Friday Ramblings?

  1. Hope the man wasn't actually drowning instead of swimming!
It's May Day here, usually a massive nonworking holiday when everybody is out picnicking, but we are under 24h curfew till tomorrow so nobody will be grilling anything outside. And it is also rainy.

    1. I hope not because the waters of Montauk can be real rough! No way though, he was swimming and playing with some sort of water toy. Ugh, it's incredibly sad all that we are missing this year, but hopefully we will be around for it again next year. The rain came so you guys wouldn't feel so bad about not celebrating outside today. :)

  2. That sounds like a fun outing. I visited a lighthouse with some friends last summer and then we went to a gorgeous brewery and sat outside. Oh to be able to do that anytime soon!

This is a dumb question, but is Southhampton in The Hamptons? There's got to be lots of magnificent estates to drive by? Unless they're all blocked by hedges?

    1. We love lighthouses over here. We to two last year. One in St. Augustine and one on Fire Island.

Not a dumb question at all. Yes - East Hampton is all new, young money and Southampton is more old money. There are an equal amount of gigantic celebrity homes in each town. But, yes, they are hidden behind the most gigantic, perfect hedges that you have ever seen!

    1. It definitely was. Embarrassing my husband seems to have become my newest hobby. :)

  4. I had a beautiful basil plant that I was so proud of growing last year. Then came a fat little heathen squirrel that dumped my container over and shredded my basil plant to bits. I just started another one in my window sill in the kitchen, but I'm not sure I'll put it back on the patio for the little jerk to come tear up all my hard work again.

    1. Oh no!! Maybe you should get a big pot and pretend it's a house plant. LOL Let the squirrel try to get it through the window. :)

  6. lol I have a feeling a couple of those search times aren't exactly G rated, what they were looking for anyway. Sing away, let Carlos suffer through the embarrassment, even as you go stalker.

    1. I'm dying to know who's looking up mushy tushys so often and what' they're trying to find. Even if it isn't G rated, it doesn't sound like something I'd go out of my way to see.
