Life: Friday Ramblings

Friday Ramblings

handmade mosaic decor; mosaic heart with family tree; mosaic

I am absolutely in love with...
...the mosaic heart pictured above.  It was a great find from a local vendor at the seafood festival.
The artist was a very sweet lady with a display of the most beautiful, handmade items.
I have a thing for mosaic decor.  You can find mosaic pieces tastefully displayed throughout my home.

I'm constantly impressed...
...with the fun, fabulous, and FREE events hosted at our local library.
They range from arts and crafts, story times, bat walks, all the way to meeting Princess Jasmine.

I am beaming with pride because...
...my little Mushy Face is watching TV alone and put on Scooby-natural!!
She did this 100% on her own with absolutely ZERO influence from me.  I swear!

I'm patting my back because...
I managed to create a back log of posts through the end of November.
I am having so much fun letting my creative juices flow.
& having even more fun playing with all of you!

I'm contemplating...
...asking my husband to get something from the grocery store and shutting my phone off.
"Hey, you said you wanted Barilla pasta.  What kind of Pasta?"  "Spaghetti, please!"  Click...
"Hey, there is angel hair, thin spaghetti, or just regular spaghetti." "Thin spaghetti, please!"  Click...
"Hey, there is linguine and fusilli pasta also."  "Alright, whatever you want!"  Click...
"I just realized they also have whole wheat pasta.  Want to try it?"  "No thanks!"  Click...
He comes home with a roasted chicken and totally forgets about the pasta.  The process repeats itself.
Ladies and gentleman, this is real life.

I get really aggravated at...
...people that think you need to rearrange your life to accommodate theirs.
Side note - High income jobs like a doctor or a lawyer, doesn't make people royalty.  Put the crown down.

I learned a really neat trick to...
...keep fresh, cut flowers alive for a longer period of time.
Every 4 to 5 days, cut down the bottom part of the stems about a half inch or so.
This allows the flower to keep drinking fresh water making them to live for weeks.

What are your Friday Ramblings?

  1. Pffft, it is much more difficult for us movie and TV influencers :) we have to write a fresh post each day, no backlogs for us poor lil' spies!
Whaaat? You don't wanna try whole wheat pasta? I tried lentil pasta, flax pasta, chia pasta, pea pasta, veggie pasta... they is all bettah than da white flour ones! Not to mention healthier....

    1. I’ve never had such a backlog before. My life is just full of inspiration at the moment so I’m taking advantage of it. :)

I’ve had lentil pasta before and while it was OK, it made me very gassy. I got so bloated that I looked pregnant all over again.

Ohhh I didn’t know that about the sugar! What about sunflowers? What do they like?

    2. One of our fellow bloggers Gloria Dear has taught us to put a pinch of baking soda in anything that makes us gassy :) While it is cooking of course... It really helps, I do it with broccoli.
All flowers lurv sugar and also aspirin for some reason.

    3. Ohh I never thought of that! I’ll have to try it because the lentil pasta wasn’t bad. I also liked that it was heavier which means less is more.

Aspirin? How much do you put in?

  2. I am also a sucker for mosaics.
Don't you love free library events? Ours usually cater to the younger crowd though, so I haven't been to any since my daughter was about 10.
I have to text my husband my exact list, sizes and all, or we go through the same thing. You aren't alone there, sister!
I've heard that using bleach in flower water is also supposed to help preserve them. Kills the bacteria in the water and keeps it from clouding up. Add in some sugar too, because like Dezzy said, they love sugar!

    1. Bleach? I would think it would kill the flowers too. Have you ever tried this?

    2. I have not tried it, but after doing a Google search, it does seem like it works. I will try it with my next batch of flowers and let you know what happens.

  3. Your ramblings are excellent. I am amazed by mosaics. My 6 yr-old gr-son and I tried one and he didn't really understand the quickness required. It is sitting by roses now.

    I enjoy your blog.

  4. I'm the head of the grocery trips in our household. Daisy doesn't know how to save and would get a huge cart of stuff that won't fit in the fridge or the cabinets.

    1. I’m guessing that means you make executive decisions with hard choices like pasta shapes and brands of butter?? Lol

  5. It's dangerous to send a spouse to the grocery store.
