My babies and I love to indulge in the
classic children's movies that I grew up. We sing, dance, and even act out our favorite scenes while watching them. My favorite thing to do is act dramatically surprised with my kids every time
something juicy happens. Don't judge..
Now that I’m older, I can look past the childish attractions and really
see the morals of the stories. Many of the most important childhood lessons we learn are through children’s
movies. It's our job as parents to reinforce these valuable life lessons to our kiddies. By doing this, we can help them grow
to their fullest potential.

Ten life lessons learned from children's movies.
1. Cinderella
“Even miracles take a little time.”
This famous quote the Fairy
Godmother is pinned onto my office wall for a daily reminder to myself to be patient. Things take time. If you're looking for instant satisfaction, you're going to often disappointed. The best things take time and some hard work.
“One often meets his destiny on the road he takes to avoid it.”
I saw this movie right
after my high school sweetheart and I broke up. This quote has haunted me ever since. When I heard this line, I realized that I pushed him away out of the fear of losing him.
“Listen to me. The
human world is a mess.”
For a crab, this is
pretty wise! We should all take a hint
from Sebastian and clean up. Mimic simpler times, respect the environment, and learn to just enjoy life instead of complicating it.
4. Thumbelina
“Don’t ever wish to be anything but what you are.”
Being as tiny as I am,
I took Thumbelina’s mother’s advice on being little to heart. You're you and you're perfect. If someone else doesn't think you are, then they don't deserve to be in your life.
5. Aladdin
“Tell me, princess, now when did you last let your heart
decide?”
If we all listened to
our heart, we’d be a lot happier. We all have responsibilities to uphold, but once a in a while, take a leap of faith and follow your heart. Now, tell
me, are you singing the song?
“People think I’m odd.
So I know how it feels to be different.
And I know how lonely that can be.”
This is a great quote to teach your kiddies to befriend all. I always tell my daughter, just because someone is different, doesn't make them weird. As a self proclaimed oddity, I find it appealing to be outside of society's norm.
7. Rio
“Never send a monkey to do a bird’s job.”
I find myself
constantly saying this line to a certain somebody. In jest, people, in jest!
“Sometimes the smallest things take up the most room in your
heart.”
That’s pretty profound
for a stuffed bear! I love to tell my children that they may be too small to partake in certain activities, but they're big enough to fill my heart. Winnie is teach us to appreciate the small things in life, including the stuff with no material value.
9. Snow White
“Remember, you’re the one who can fill the world with
sunshine.”
The world can be a dark and dreary place. Teach your kids that it's up to them to brighten it. Enjoy everything despite disappointments. Find the humor in every bad situation. Respect the world and nature. Befriend the friendless. Advocate for the weak. There's so many things we can teach our kids to do that will make the world a better place.
10. A Bug’s Life
“Together, even the smallest can achieve the greatest goal.”
I love this quote about teamwork and the strength that comes with numbers. One ant may not be able to stand up against a grasshopper, but a whole army of them can. Use this to your advantage and learn to work as team.
What's your favorite kid's movie?
Wizard Of Oz- "There's No Place Like Home". Now if I could just find me a pair of those magical ruby slippers to get rid of all the wicked witches in my life and click my heels every time I wanted to go home I would be in business baby!
ReplyDeleteGood one!!! Love that. :)
DeleteI never send monkeys to do birds jobs either... I send penguins and possums...
ReplyDeleteAww, I love the penguins, but I'm not so sure how I feel about the possums. hahaha
Delete"Ah, yes, the past can hurt. But the way I see it, we can either run from it...or learn from it." -Rafiki from The Lion King
ReplyDelete"There is light even in the darkest of places, if one only remembers to turn on the light."
-Professor Dumbledore from Harry Potter
Those two quotes helped me through a lot of hard times.
I love the Dumbledore line!! I'm a HUGE Harry Potter fan, and this really is a great one. I can't believe I left it out of my list!!
Deletehaha everyone should take lessons from the crab, he always had catchy songs. You never know what a little bippity boppity boo can do.
ReplyDeleteLook at you, Pat!! You're a total Sebastian fan and I didn't even know it!! I was waiting for you to bust out a line from the Aristocrats!! My brother and I used to crack up at the old man in that movie.
DeleteThe aristocats was okay, but not a favorite. The crab sure is fun.
DeleteI loved the butler and the old man. They totally made us giggle. The toad from Thumbelina was the funnest to imitate though. haha
DeleteSo true! I love these...you're never too old for a kid's movie! Good lessons that we adults need to revisit because it seems we forget!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely not! I really enjoy them, especially the classics. :)
DeleteOh my gosh I absolutely love this!! All of them seriously!! xo, Biana - BlovedBoston
ReplyDeletelol!!! Me, you, and Mushy.. haha
Delete“You must not let anyone define your limits because of where you come from. Your only limit is your soul.” – Gusteau, Ratatouille
ReplyDeleteThat's a great one!!
DeleteHow wonderful. These are some pretty amazing quotes. Very powerful and worth remembering.
ReplyDeleteYes, they totally are. :)
DeleteYou are smart and very aware of your feelings about these quotes. Very smart to see the real meanings of these words.
ReplyDeleteHave a blessed week, dear Jax.
xo bj
Yes, they are wonderful quotes. Thank you for the kind words! xo
DeleteAw, so cute and I'm glad you found the good messages there!! Sometimes I watch like Cinderella and I'm like man, this movie is actually pretty insane with this tortured girl servant. I like the little mermaid one! Very well said.
ReplyDeleteSeriously!! If Cinderella was around in modern day life, her step mom would totally get arrested!!! haha
DeleteHaha, I love these- they definitely still hold true and bring back some childhood memories!
ReplyDelete-Ashley
Le Stylo Rouge
Yes, they do!! I love it too. :)
DeleteYou've left out The Jungle Book, Miss Jax!
ReplyDelete"I'm gone, man. Solid gone."
I think this is my fav one “One often meets his destiny on the road he takes to avoid it"... It makes me feel better about seemingly going in the wrong direction in life all the time.
