List: Life Lessons From Children's Movies.

Lots of Mushy and I’s quality time together is spent indulging in the classic movies I grew up with.
Surprisingly, these do not make me feel old, instead they feel like visiting old friends.
We sing, dance, and even act out certain scenes while watching them.
My favorite thing to do is act dramatically surprised with Mushy every time something juicy happens.
Now that I’m older, I can look past the childish attractions and really see the morals of the stories.
Many of my most important childhood lessons were learned through children’s movies.
I will reinforce these valuable life lessons to my Mushy to help her grow into the best she can be.
You see that light bulb over my head?  That’s right!  Jax had an epiphany!

Famous Children’s Movie Quotes That Stuck With Me

1.  Cinderella
“Even miracles take a little time.”
This famous quote the Fairy Godmother is pinned onto my cubicle wall for a daily reminder to myself.

2.  Kung Fu Panda
“One often meets his destiny on the road he takes to avoid it.
I saw this movie right after my high school sweetheart and I broke up.  This quote has haunted me since.

3.  The Little Mermaid
“Listen to me. The human world is a mess.
For a crab, this is pretty wise!  We should all take a hint from Sebastian and clean up.

4.  Thumbelina
“Don’t ever wish to be anything but what you are.”
Being as tiny as I am, I took Thumbelina’s mother’s advice on being little to heart!

5.  Aladdin
“Tell me, princess, now when did you last let your heart decide?”
If we all listened to our heart, we’d be real happy!  Now, tell me, are you singing the song?

6.  Beauty and the Beast
“People think I’m odd.  So I know how it feels to be different.  And I know how lonely that can be.”
Madre used this quote to help us befriend everybody no matter their differences.

7.  Rio
“Never send a monkey to do a bird’s job.”
I find myself constantly saying this line to a certain somebody.  In jest, people, in jest!

8.  Winnie The Pooh
“Sometimes the smallest things take up the most room in your heart.”
That’s real profound for a stuffed bear, Pooh!

9.  Snow White
“Remember, you’re the one who can fill the world with sunshine.”
Nanny loves to tell her grandchildren (and now great-grandchildren) this famous Disney line.

10.  A Bug’s Life
“Together, even the smallest can achieve the greatest goal.”
If Mushy stopped slapping the TV and screaming “BUG!”, she may hear this valuable life lesson.

What are your favorite lessons learned through children’s movies?

  1. Wizard Of Oz- "There's No Place Like Home". Now if I could just find me a pair of those magical ruby slippers to get rid of all the wicked witches in my life and click my heels every time I wanted to go home I would be in business baby!

  3. "Ah, yes, the past can hurt. But the way I see it, we can either run from it...or learn from it." -Rafiki from The Lion King

"There is light even in the darkest of places, if one only remembers to turn on the light."
    -Professor Dumbledore from Harry Potter

Those two quotes helped me through a lot of hard times.
