As
you all have noticed, the air suddenly got a light, crisp chill to it.
The
leaves are gracefully falling from the trees and people are starting to reach
for boots and jackets.
As
much as we all want to fight it, let’s give a big hello to autumn!!
Summer dresses and beach days, I’ll miss you…but I’m totally
ready to welcome the fall.
Fall
is my favorite season for many different reasons.
I’ll
be spending the next 2 months with a jam packed schedule trying to get all the
fall goodness in!
…and, yes, that includes gaining 10 pounds from eating my
favorite fall foods…
Jax’s Top 10 Favorite Things About Autumn
10. Haunted
Houses
I
love to spend a few nights of the season going from haunted house to haunted
house.
There’s
nothing like spending some quality time with friends having ugly things jump
out at you!
For those who don’t know me, I’m not as brave as I’m making
you think. I usually close my eyes and
run…
9. Squash
My
favorite food season is the fall mainly because of all the yummy squash
recipes.
Madre
makes a butternut squash soup that I would DIE for, not to mention my
spaghetti squash recipe.
Fall foods remain to be unbeaten. They are even worth a 4 hour drive upstate to buy the best!!
8. Hayrides
There's something so fun about taking a hay ride to a distant pumpkin patch and corn maze.
I love to take GodSon to do this every year. He really enjoys it!!
7. Classes
Fall means that classes are back in session and that I'm back to the grind.
Some people might hate this, but I love being busy and productive while meeting new people!
Ok, so I'm a nerd. Let's act like we don't know this already...
6. Scenery
Autumn is famous for the colorful leaves that paint the typical green horizon.
The change in scenery and addition of color is much welcomed after all those months of summer!
My family and I take trips upstate, NY just so we can really take in the beauty of the fall.
5. Hair
Good bye to humidty and frizz!!! I won't have to see you guys for almost another full year!!
Fall means less time with chemicals on my head and more time enjoying life.
Come on now, I'm a girl! My hair decides what mood I'll be in despite how I actually am!
4. Wardrobe
I'm excited to pull out the sweaters, boots, and blazers!!
My wardrobe will now consist of fun, earthy colors to keep me in the spirit of the season.
Ok, so I miss my bikini and sundresses just a little bit...but fall clothes hide so much more!!
3. Pumpkin
This is the time of year to chow down on EVERYTHING pumpkin flavored.
I'm in love with pumpkin pie, pumpkin bread, pumpkin scones, pumpkin spice lattes and everything!!
I have to do a shout out to Dunkin Donut's pumpkin muffin. The yummiest thing I've ever tasted!
2. Season Premieres
Since the days are shorter and the nights are colder, the couch is looking real good!
That's why I'm so happy that all my favorite shows are back on.
So, who caught Once Upon a Time and Revenge last night??? Soo juicy!!!!!
1. Football
Sneaking out to club in hot red dresses with open shoes are over.
Now it's time to go to the bar in your teams jerseys cheering for your favorite players!!
Not to mention fantasy football makes me happy and Aaron Hernandez makes me swoon...
What are your favorite things of autumn?
I like the leaves changing color. Unfortunately we have very little fall. It's like 100 degrees today, then all of a sudden it'll be freezing.
ReplyDeleteReally?? Oh, I'm sorry to hear that :( :( Well, at least you get to enjoy some!! I would love to hear some of your fabulous fall recipes. I know you're an amazing cook!!
DeleteI honestly don't think there us one thing on your list I don't agree with! Bring on the fall!
ReplyDelete:) I agree!! I'm welcoming it with open arms!!
Deletewardrobe is my fave part of the Autumn too, not that I don't miss seeing naked legs and lovely bums in tight shorts and other summer outfits LOL
ReplyDeleteI love first frost and fogs in late Autumn mornings and the first smell of snow in the air, and the smell of roasted chestnuts in the street....
On a bad side, Autumn and Spring have kinda disappeared lately, we go straight from summer to winter. It's been 30*C in my country this week.
Yes, the more comfortable clothes are in the fall time :) :) I love baggy sweaters and boots. They make me happy!!! lol
DeleteRoasted chest nuts?? Yum!!! There's just something so comforting about this time of year. Lots of family time instead of time solo with the sun!
Oh my!! It's really gotten cold by you very fast. Well, hopefully you get to enjoy at least a little bit of Autumn. :) :)
darling, that was 30 Celsius, not Fahrenheit. In Fahrenheit it would be above 110 :) We have summer temperatures still during the day.
DeleteThat made me giggle!! Ok, so I was a little off on that one!! Omg, it's scorching by you!! When does the weather start to trickle down some so you can rock some comfy clothes??
DeleteI've no idea, the season has disappeared due to this horrid global warming. When I was little in this time of the year we wore scarves and mittens LOL And now I'm still in shorts and flip flops and my Benetton woollen scarves and sweaters are crying for me in the closet :(
DeleteJax, it is amazing how you put a positive spin on everything. I could probably only list 10 things I hate about fall. Though I guess that is just me being a party pooper again.. there are lots of things to like about fall. You know what else I hate.. Christmas. Bah hum bug!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jimmy!! I try to always stay upbeat. :) Ok, I'll take the 10 things you hate list. I wonder if what you hate is everything I like. lol lol
DeleteMy friend of the female persuasion turned me on to some pumpkin spice Hershey Kisses. They melt in your mouth.
ReplyDeleteOhh, those sound DIVINE!! I will begin my search for those after work. :)
DeleteI miss summer already. The only thing good about Fall is football and last night sucked. No, I don't want to talk about it either. =(
ReplyDeleteOkay, I like Halloween and Thanksgiving...so, maybe there's that too... LOL
Ohh...I thought that last night was AMAZING!! We dessttroyyeeddd the Bills. hahaha Oh wait, you're a Giants fan!! lol On a side note, I need Nicks to get back in the game. Can you tell him to hurry up and heal please?? :)
DeleteThanksgiving?? Yumm!!
I NEED Nicks to get back in the game LOL
Deletelol He's killing my fantasy team. He was one of my star picks!! Him and Hernandez need to get those ankle/feet fixed real soon please :) :) Maybe you can talk to your ex giant b/f and hook this up!!
DeleteSo, what, you only blog once a week now?
DeleteFall is my favorite, too!! Love everything on your list...well, except the football :) Although if it's a nice enough day, I would even be willing to go to a game, just to sit outside.
ReplyDeleteI love corn mazes. My friend and I try to go to a new one every year. It's a great time for lots of girl talk and I love getting lost for a while, and then feeling such satisfaction when we find our way out!
The only downside of fall is winter is right around the corner :(
lol That's how I feel about baseball. If it means I could get a tan, I would totally go!! lol Seriously though, I think you could really like football if you gave it a fighting chance :) lol
DeleteCorn mazes are so fun!! Did you ever go to a haunted one where they chase you with a chain saw? Those are especially intimidating. hahahaha
Ohh, how I HATE the winter and the cold. I have a feeling that it's going to be a rough one in NY. We had a mild winter last year so we are due for a killer!! lol
Yes! We went to a haunted corn maze. So scary yet so incredibly fun :)
DeleteOur winter in Michigan was mild last year, too. As much as I hope for another mild one, there's no way that's gonna happen! Dang it.
Yes, the haunted corn mazes are awesome!! I can only imagine how much better yours are in comparision to the lame NY ones :)
DeleteWhen did you come back?
ReplyDeleteI definitely agree on the pumpkin. Just making my blog run this morning and I see so much pumpkin!
I was finally allowed back to the blogger world last week!! I'm not sure why, but google tried to shut me out :( :(
DeleteOhh, pumpkin everything!! Yum, yum!!
I love the fall! My birthday is the first day of fall (so that may have something to do with it...) and after that, lots of cute dresses and boots! It's cool enough so you won't melt outside but it's not so cold you'll turn into a Popsicle either. Plus, Halloween! I even started decorating the house last night, for my very favorite holiday. (=
ReplyDeleteAlso, I have to add, I LOVE scary shows and movies that come on during September and October. I always end up freaked out and hiding under the blankets, but I love it anyways. lol
DeleteCute dresses and boots??? Oh, I second that!! I love girly, flowy dresses edged out by some hot biker boots. That's one of my favorite trends to rock :)
DeleteI second the scary movie thing!! I can't wait to catch Hocus Pocus. Love that movie!!!
I like that my apt isn't a sweat lodge anymore. That is so nice.
ReplyDeleteAnd yeah actually go on hay rides? Damn, I figured you'd sneeze your head off or something with everything you're allergic to haha
I don't know how you deal with that!! Disgusting!!! I would have moved out long ago just for the lack of AC. lol Jax on sleep deprivation is not a pretty sight... lol
DeleteYes, I'm allergic to hay, but that doesn't stop me!!!! LMAO Now, all it has to do is rain and I'll be triple allergic to everything and probably very miserable. How'd you know???? lol
Nah, I think it would be better if the whole year was 90 degrees and the Earth never cooled down.
ReplyDeleteAlso, welcome back. I haven't had a chance to say that yet :-)
As much as I love the sun and good tan, I can't stand humidity. Give me a dry 90 degrees and I'm a happy woman!! My poor hair can't take the dampness in the air.
DeleteThanks for the warm welcome :) :)
I like the cool autumn air but I do miss my summer dresses and pastel colored shirts. I am not a fan of football but I do look forward to movies and shopping ~
ReplyDeleteMovies and shopping??? Yes, yes, yes!!! Ok, so I'll miss summer dresses too, but think about boots and all those pretty scarfs!!!
DeleteI love fall for halloween, cool air, and... I guess that's it.
ReplyDeleteHalloween and cool air?? Well, I guess that's better than nothing ;) lol
DeleteWhere do I start? Fall is by far my favorite season, and has been for as long as I can remember!
ReplyDeleteOf course, football!!!
Halloween - I love all things Halloween! Decorating, carving pumpkins, scary movies, haunted houses, costumes, bon-fires, folklore, ... all of it, really! It's my favorite holiday!
Just the feel of the air! The cool mornings and evenings that make it perfect for reading outside or cuddling on the couch, and it just seems to feel beater to breathe!
I like the color of the leaves and watching them fall, and raking them into a pile and letting the kids jump into them!
For me, Fall is also the most romantic season of all. It was during the Fall (October 7) that I met my one true love and my life changed forever. So, the Fall has all of those anniversaries of "the first time we did so and so", we became exclusive on an October 18, and we were engaged on an October 30, and we were married on an October 14.
Anyway, I'm turning this into my own blog so I will stop typing now.
Great post, as always Jax!
Love the above^ "I'm turning this into my own blog" haha.
ReplyDeleteLOVING this list. Fall really does have an amazing array of special qualities, doesn't it? I have already been enjoying Football and apple-picking but the rest hasn't really come yet! It's still really sunny and about 80 degrees every day here which usually would be cool but I think I'm ready for Fall air. I can't WAIT for my first Pumpkin Patch trip with a hayride to boot!
So true about the hair, hahah.
I love school in the fall aslo. My University looks great because of all the giant trees changing colors. I love the coolness in the air and the hope that snow is near.
ReplyDeleteFootball is definitely on the top of my list and I can't think football without thinking of all your shirtless Aaron Hernandez and Victor Cruz posts last year - makes me laugh :)
ReplyDeleteI'm really excited that it is time for all of the fall activities again also.
ReplyDeleteFall reminds me of how precious summer - and life in general - really is. (I'm a fan of sunshine and I should really move again.) At the start of every spring I tell myself to seize each hot summer day to come like they would be my last ones to enjoy. Then when it's fall again and I look back, I can't believe how quickly summer slipped through my fingers again the way it did the year before. Do you know what I mean?
ReplyDeleteP.S. Fall means that classes are back in session and that my poor students back to the grind.
...are back to the...
ReplyDeleteI love anything pumpkin flavored. ;) I even found pumpkin pop-tarts LOL!
ReplyDeletei had an organ recital two days before Halloween on the same day we picked out our pumpkins at the patch. the car mysteriously couldn't start up, too much hay in the engine, so i missed that recital and lost my opportunity to become the next Trent Reznor...
ReplyDeleteI can wear orange this month without being suspected for a used-car-saleswoman. I love halloween, starbucks pumpkin latte and love the yellow, brown, orange colors all around. I love taking pictures this fall. And halloween - love it just love it.
ReplyDeleteand it's my birthday month! 18th!!
ReplyDeleteYou had me at boots and blazers. When is that New York fashion show. I would so love to visit at this time of year. One day and one day soon.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing I can agree with on that list is pumpkin. :P
ReplyDeleteWe just had our first log fire. Love love love open fires. So cosy and romantic. The Autumn colours are also beautiful but they are not as distinct as in the UK.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely and FINALLY starting to cool down where I am!
