Every
morning I wake up at 5:30am.
From
that point forward I shower, go to work, run errands, and then veg out blogging
while watching TV.
My
weekends are as routine with Sunday dinners at Nanny’s, time with
GodSon, and The Viking’s dry cleaners.
Something’s got to give because frankly, I’m bored as hell
with this vicious cycle I fell into!!
That’s
when I laid out my life, my goals, and my passions to plan out a new schedule
that I’m happy with.
This
was surprisingly tough. When you’re
accustom to ways it’s difficult to smoothly transition into change.
You all know what I did right? Unsurprisingly, I made a life changing list! …and this time literally…
10 Ways Jax Pulled Herself Out of a Routine Funk!
10. Summer
Class
Instead
of going home and vegging out, I should make use out of my time.
I
quickly signed up for a business communications class. It only meets twice a week. Perfect for the summer!
Hello college credits, brain work outs, and possibly meeting
new people!!
9. Gym
I
recently signed up for a year’s membership to Planet Fitness.
I
am going to try to get my little butt over there at least three times a week
for an hour.
Hello hot bodied men, healthy endorphins, and cute workout
clothes!!
8. Trips
I
already have three trips planned to add some crazy to my life!
One
for August, September, and October.
Hello memories, seeing friends, and visiting new places!!
7. Accessories
My
statement pieces have always been big rings, funky belts, and stunner shades!
I’m
in the process of adding new, unique accessories to my everyday style.
Hello chunky earrings, sparkly nail polish, and eye popping
clutches!!
6. Friend
Dates
Instead
of going home and first cooking myself a gourmet meal at 6:30pm, I’m
going to expand my budget!
I’m
allowed to pick one weeknight and have an inexpensive friend dinner date with
one of my girls.
Hello yummy food, good laughs, and an inviting, friendly
atmosphere!
5. Attitude
5. Attitude
I
have an awful habit of pretending everything’s peachy when it’s not. It’s deceiving others and myself.
I’m
going to start recognizing when thing’s make me unhappy and work on changing
it.
Hello less stress, a happier life, and far less fake
smiles!!
4. Living
Social
I
signed up for a free living social account.
Peaches
and I are going to scout out different things to do at least once a month through this website.
Hello city adventures, fun memories, and meeting new
people!!
3. Glamour
Challenge
Every
month Glamour magazine challenges it’s reader to bring an issue somewhere
unique!
No
more will I be reading Glamour on my couch!
I’m taking on the challenge and reading in hip places.
Hello beach reading, outdoor café reading, or actually going
to a local park!!
2. Hair
When
a girl is making life changes, the first thing to always change is the hair!
I
got rid of my “sweet girl” hair. It has
been darkened, given a blunt bang, and chemically straightened.
Hello edgy look, many compliments, and quick confidence boost!!
1. Saying
Yes
When
I get in a funk I tend to turn down opportunities to veg out on my couch.
No
more will I be declining invitations and making up lame excuses.
Hello new adventures, exciting activities, and forming
stronger bonds with people!!
If you could change your daily routine, how would you do it?
If I could change my daily routine, I would quit the office job and live on the beach with an all girl staff of domestic help and drivers to take me places to party...
ReplyDeleteSorry, I just woke up and am stuck in that same damn dream.
Barfly...if that was an option I may choose it too. And if it was a really good routine breaker, I could exchange the all girl staff for some sexy men in speedos ;)
DeleteLovely ideas Jax everything single one is great. People usually think that organised people or people with OCD usually have a routine, but I dont think I can hold on to any routine for long I get bored and need to change.
ReplyDeleteFree social account class? I signed up for meetup fitness ones but every time I dont even RSVP, I dont attend, something or the other takes up my time.
I subscribed to "parenting" and "good housekeeping" magazines :)
Thanks, Cap!! People OCD just like things organized, but they can be very spontaneous. I'm a prime example :) Routines get boring. No one should ever get stuck into a rut of such a routine. It's awful.
DeleteThat's so awesome that you're making use of living social! Now you just need to sign up for something extra super exciting like cheap pole dancing lessons!!! :) :)
My day changes to much the only thing I do on a regular basis is wake up sometime in the morning.
ReplyDeleteAdam, sounds like you got the life!!
DeleteYour life sounded pretty good before you came up with the plan to pull yourself out of the "funk." But I suppose, if it wasn't for the human spirit and drive to succeed we wouldn't have the Egyptian pyramids, the Eiffel Tower, or computers. So, Jax, I must thank you for all those things (or at least computers, as I don't really use the pyramids or the Eiffel Tower for anything). Also, thank you for including me on your list of favorite blogs! I have no life, so every so often I google myself, to see what they are saying about me on the internets, and I saw something about making people pee. But then I couldn't find who's site it was on, so I gave up, and took a nap. But now that I am on the list, I will have to step up my blogging game. Thanks again.
ReplyDeleteOh...my life wasn't bad...but it was boring. lol I don't like boring! Boring makes me depressed and twitch ;)
DeleteNo problemo, Jimmy! I enjoy your page. LMAO You googled yourself and found out that you make people pee??? I'm a real class act, aren't I? lol
yes, sightseeing is what makes me go to the gym as well :)
ReplyDeleteWhen it comes to the routine = to quote Gollum - we loves it, but we hates it :) It lovely when you can break it somehow. Life should be fun not just a time spent waiting to die...
Sightseeing is the sole purpose of the gym, no??? lol
DeleteI giggled at your Gollum quote, but I totally agree :) Life should most deff NOT be wasted. Enjoy every second that you were gifted!
I like your list Jax. I taught a first session summer class earlier and I always liked them. For the students, they can be difficult trying to cram everything into a short time period, but getting the credits over always leave everyone smiling when it is done.
ReplyDeleteAlso, short trips like you talk about in #8. They can always give me something to look forward to.
Thanks, Slame! You taught? Oh, that's cool!! What class did you teach? It's difficult to cram, that's why I like to stick with something easy such as a 2 credit mandatory course. It's less stress that way and still as productive. :) Besides, I'd rather cram than be wasting time home. lol
DeleteShort trips are the best way to put a little spunk in your mood :)
I like all your ideas Jax. Taking the class and going to new places are especially good. If it were possible to hire a maid to help with the house and to hire someone to help with the Hubby, I'[d change my routine by going to the cinema and going out to lunch with my daughter.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Anne!! Yes, the class is the best part because it will really help me in the long run. I feel like I've been in school forever. lol
DeleteHire a maid?? Ohh, I like that!!! That sounds like a lovely way to change things up. Hopefully you can have your date with your daughter really soon.
Hmmm get up, feed cats, feed me, bathroom stuff, go to work, go home, feed cats, veg out, sleep, repeat. Fun stuff there hahaha I have no problem breaking my cycle anymore as I've learned life is too short for such crap, you enjoy something or want something, simply do it. Now if other crap would go away, it be much easier to do.
ReplyDeletePat, you really did fall into a routine!!! lol It's time to eliminate the veg out and add some fun things. We don't want to wait for life to pass us by. Hopefully you'll be feeling better soon which could make the "fun things" much easier :)
DeleteRoutine is comforting, but its not that fun.
ReplyDeleteNice list :)
Routine is comforting? I find it depressing! Hmph...good thing I have the podcast to pull me out of the funk ;) lol
Deletenew routine always changes our mood! its like being with new people.. it changes everything aand i think we really need that one!
ReplyDeletei'm excited for your trips!!! any plans to italy???? i really wish you can pass by here and say hi :)
as for me i need to start gym again.. i really need it!!!
take care dear.. xoxo, Haus of Gala
Yes, new and change always keeps us alert and on our toes. It's exciting and fun. :)
DeleteI have no plans for Italy yet, but I'm going to make it there. When I do, I will certainly say hello!!! :) :)
Great list. I agree with Anne about hiring a housekeeper. This would free up a lot of time to spend with my wife and son. To get there, I need to break from my current routine and find a better paying job. :-/
ReplyDeleteThanks, GC! A housekeeper would be lovely, wouldn't it? The only problem with that is, cleaning is sort of therapeutic. I look forward to it :)
DeleteBetter paying?? That's the best idea yet!! lol
That is a great list. But you forgot wine. Wine should be included on any list.
ReplyDeleteWine doesn't need a list. It's always included ;) lol
DeleteThat is awesome that you actually sat down and made a list. First of all, kudos to you for getting up at the crack of dawn. I thrive on routine, especially the routine of the school year. I get all whacked out in the summer time without a consistent schedule with my kids home from school, summer camps here and there, vacations, my work out routine dependant on my taxi'ing them to and fro. Whew, it exhausts me.
ReplyDeleteThanks, girl!! Yes, I'm the queen of lists. Hell, I make lists in my sleep. Helps me and my thoughts organized :) :)
DeleteSounds like you don't have much of a routine at all. You might want to make the opposite list for yourself. lol
That's the danger of routine...it creeps up on you where you don't even realize how blah things have become.
ReplyDeleteLast year my friend and I sat down at the beginning of summer to write up a list of all the stuff we wanted to do, so we weren't sitting our tooshes on the couch, doing nothing. We did about half, but that was good enough for us...at least it got us out :)
Oh, routine kills me. It makes me mellow and depressed. You need to be able to recognize it and snap out of it before the funk is long lived or permanent!!
DeleteThat's such an awesome idea!!!! I might steal that from you :) :)
Oh, steal away! Just don't be dorky like we were and make your list with your friend in a restaurant. Only when we were done did we realize how loud we had been, making complete asses of ourselves...we put things on the list like, "go to bars where cops and firemen hang out, cause they're cute" Ha ha ha, we are so pathetic :)
Deletelol No worries, girl!! I'll try to keep the list making in the restaurant down to a minimum. hahahaha I love that!! Fire men?? Hollaaaa lol
DeleteMy g/f and I once made a bingo board of all the different types of men we wanted to meet. The boxes were so random!! We had things like a full blood german and a man who's name starts with a Z. LMAO Talk about pathetic... hehe
I must be delirious with exhaustion, but I cannot stop laughing at 'full blood German'. Every time I think of it I go into a fit of giggles!
Deletehahahaha I'm so glad that I could make you laugh!! But, if it helps, I never met a full blood German. That was one box that didn't get checked off. lol!!
DeleteOh dear your idesd are so nice but you know I live inthe countryside and not for rutine because I need it I will begin again with my yoga at home.
ReplyDeleteWinter is a time I love to be at home but with 2 teens. Is not a quiet time lol
yestetday we have all day out! They love shopping or see thongs out or eat out I think is the syndrome of country sidesometimes to them is so quiet lol
love yiur ideas!
I live go to the cinema but they go with their friends now :(
For these I saw all Harry potter s movies and I enjoyed them! I think maybe I will begin go to the cinem alone l
I see...because you're at the country side you're a little more limited? That's ok. I can see where you and your children are coming from. Especially if Esperanza is as like me as you say :)
DeleteHarry Potter is awesome!! There's no shame in going to the movies alone. :) :)
Yes but they are traitors ha! how Dez said always now they love to go with friends not with me :is the life I know LOL
Deletehahaha They aren't traitors :) :) :) It's ok, Gloria. They love their mommy!!
DeleteOmy sorry Iwrite so long!!
ReplyDeleteYou write as long as you like :)
DeleteJax, saying yes is a really good mentality to have. I've been falling more and more into a routine as well. I think it was a reaction to all of the travel and uncertainty that I had to deal with in the past three months. But I don't like being so boring every day either. I'll have to look for a balance. A balance on a budget!
ReplyDeleteYes, I can see you craving routine after such a crazy schedule. Especially with you working from home now. That must call for a routine more than usual!!!
DeleteBalance on a budget? Oh, I love that!! Very well said :)
You've hit the nail on the head with gyms. I could use the gym at work for a couple of quid a month but would have to look at a load of sweaty coppers. So I pay fifty quid a month to go to a smart gym full of lovely lasses getting all perspiry in tight clothing.
ReplyDeleteLMAO Tony...glad to know that I ain't the only one there for the show ;) lol
DeleteI really need to work on changing up my routine, but having my boyfriend around helps. He keeps me a little more spontaneous.
ReplyDeleteOh? See, boyfriends are good!! lol
DeleteCute! And I'm with you- my weekenight routine rarely wavers. I always want to switch it up like you but I don't see how! I work a full day, go home, change for gym, go to gym, make dinner, eat dinner, watch tv & blog and go to bed. After work I'm so tired that it's hard to be motivated to make a big change! So bravo to you for doing it!
ReplyDeleteI hope you get into Glamour! I'm looking forward to seeing you in the mag, haha.
Right? It's awful to get stuck in a routine like that, but it's hard because all damn day you're working. lol Hopefully one day we'll be able to figure it out. But, for now, those are the changes that I was able to incorporate.
DeleteLOL Oh, that would be awesome...but I'll probably have to do something drastic for that.
These are all really good. I'm huge on the travel and friend dates. I have to have routines but I try and bust out of them when it doesn't mess me up too much.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Melanie. Traveling and friend dates are awesome!! A great way to put some pep in your routine.
DeleteSome people like routine. There is nothing wrong with it...just personally it puts me in a funk, but I always seem to fall into one.
I'm a man and so I fear change. As much as I need to, I can't force myself to. I could change the number of beers I drink!
ReplyDeleteMen fear change? Noted.
DeleteI need to work out! I get up at six, walk dog, and then work from 7 to 7. I walk dog, eat, blog, walk dog again, shower, and sleep. I need to make time for it.
ReplyDeleteYes, I didn't realize how out of shape I am until I recently started going to the gym. I last about 25 minutes on the elliptical. That totally needs to change..like, now.
DeleteLife has been so crazy for us that I've been craving routine. We finally don't have plans this weekend, so we're looking forward to going hiking and now I'm trying to find something fun to do for Saturday night (either concert in NYC or drinking here in CT)
ReplyDeleteIt's important to get a balance. Too much routine or too much crazy never ends well. Concert in NYC??? Holllaaaa!! lol
DeleteI honestly don't have a good routine. haha Get up, eat, blog stuff, Facebook, work on whatever project I have throughout the day, shower at some point, blog stuff, Facebook, eat, sleep. And when I have to go somewhere, that gets thrown in there too. lol
ReplyDeleteI'm kind of in a funk myself, while I look for a new job. I've been trying to go out more and try new things, especially now that I'm able to drive around the city (some what; highways are big and scary haha).
Well, it's time to get out of the funk!! I think looking for a new job is a great way to pull yourself out of it. Suddenly you're forced to wake up and dress nice. It does wonders for people :) :)
DeleteHighways are big and scary?? Oh, you so wouldn't get away with that in NY!! lol
I don't like waking up early, but it would certainly help me get out of this funk. Maybe I'll even learn to love it! haha
Deletelol Well, I've only had my permit a couple of weeks and the first day I drove on a near highway-ish busy road, the car started stalling out! I have excuses! haha
Waking up early is awesome!! It will suck after a while, but you'll be surprised how much energy you get once you start getting less sleep. 8 hours is awesome, but anything more can actually drain you of energy.
Deletelol ok, excuses accepted ;)
Good ideas! I should probably do something like that, but I'm scared that if I do, I'll go completely overboard and end up joining a circus or something.
ReplyDeletePlease don't join a circus. I mean, if you did, you totally wouldn't have time to blog ;) lol
DeleteIf I could change my daily routine, I would need more hours in a day. Trying to work, blog, be active in the blog community, exercise, be a good dog parent, and go to bed at a respectable hours while still having 3 nutritious meals a day is hard.
ReplyDeleteHowever, i try to plan monthly outing with my friends to try new restaurants and go to new places, so I mix it up a little bit. gives good blogging material too.
*Erin
Oh, don't me wrong, I'm still sticking to the major part of my routine...but it's important to mix it up a little. Sounds like you found a lovely balance :) :)
Delete5:30 A.M...Yikes, that's early. ;/
ReplyDeleteI love it!! :) lol
DeleteI'll have to work on number 4. LOL
ReplyDeleteGoing out and saving money?? Yes, please!! You should totally sign up for a living social account :)
DeleteI love all of your ideas! I like the Living Social idea too - I may have to look into that...can you keep us posted on that one?
ReplyDeleteThanks, Elsie!! Living Social is an awesome tool. I use it all the time!! Of course I'll keep you posted, homegirl. :)
DeleteYou are amazing! I hope my girls grow up and can do all that is on this list. I keep showing them how it really helps to get out there and trying new things and revisiting old things. This is a great list to get yourself out there and experience some great times. Also, Living Social has led us on some fun adventures with our other friends. Hope you find some cheap, fun deals!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much! This is one of the best compliments that I've ever received. xoxo
DeleteLiving Social has been so awesome!! It's saved me so much money and gave my friends and I so many ideas of things to do that we know would have never crossed our minds!
saying yes is the number one life changer. You have no idea on what you are missing out on until you start saying yes! love this post!!
ReplyDeletexxS
Saying yes is where it all starts :) Thanks, girl!
DeleteLook at you with your summer life changes. I have no doubt you will suceed in at least finding something new and interesting to write about. It's to see someone out there who is actually trying to have a good life. The rest of us just seem to be following the tide or fighting against it.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kal!! That means a lot :0)
DeleteThere always seems to be something new and interesting to write about. If I run out of ideas, I know that means that I'm not getting out enough. lol
I think I really need to go to the gym. I feel more energized that way anyways!
ReplyDeleteI've been going religiously for the past 2 weeks and I feel so much better!! I'm starting out slow though. I up it 5 minutes every time I go. Wouldn't want to kill myself ;)
DeleteBy the way- love the profile pic with your new hair!!!
ReplyDelete*Erin
Thanks so much, Erin!!! :) :)
DeleteHey Jax, just wanted to say that I commend you on your lifestyle change; all the things on that list seem suitable for a new you. If you get tired of the gym there's always hiking/running/kayak/paddleboarding etc mix it up!
ReplyDeletePS. I think your new haircut looks bangin :D
Thanks, Easy!! Yes, there are so many options to be fit and get out of the gym. I need to remember that because I've never done of the things you just listed. hahaha
DeleteP.S. Thanks so much!! Banging? Ohh, I'm smiling ear to ear!! :)
Those are some great ideas. I don't think I have too much of a routine going on which is pretty good! Sometimes I actually think I need more of one, so that I could get more done with my time, haha! :)

Vampires is not at all like in the movies or books. Sure, I understand. You are young you have the whole world open to you. You can be anything that you choose if you apply yourself and try hard to work toward that goal. But being a Vampire is not what it seems like. It’s a life full of good, and amazing things. We are as human as you are.. It’s not what you are that counts, But how you choose to be. Do you want a life full of interesting things? Do you want to have power and influence over others? To be charming and desirable? To have wealth, health, and longevity, I can help you solve any problem you are having
