Father's day is this Sunday and I can't wait.
I'm already planning a fun filled day for the Viking and I.
Do vikings eat pumpkin pancakes? I hope so because that's what I'm making for brunch!
On top of the day out that I have planned, I always like to get a special gift.
I'm one of those annoying people that can't get just any gift. It has to be something that took thought!
The poor Viking has been a victim of my gift giving ways. I'm talking bonsai plants all the way to live fish!
Although I already purchased his spectacular gift, I thought it would be fun to share my ideas.
I mean, why should all that brainstorming go to waste!!
Five Thoughtful Father's Day Gift Ideas
1. Fire Pit
A fire pit always makes for a manly man gift for all the vikings out there!
Not to mention all the memories of roasting marshmallows and telling ghost stories that come with it.
This Fire Pit is from Home Depot and can be found here.
2. John Pinette: Still Hungry
This is by far the funniest stand up act that I have ever seen, guaranteed to get vikings to laugh!
John Pinette has other stand ups for sale as well. They are all just as funny!
You can find his stand up acts at Target or by clicking here.
3. Keurig B40
Every viking wants a cup of coffee to grab quickly on his way out the door.
I use my Keurig everyday and love it! It's a great way to get a single cup of coffee. Yum!!
I got my Keurig from Bed Bath & Beyond. You can also find it here.
4. Acqua Di Gio
I buy this cologne for every single man in my life. It's my favorite man scent out there!
Even vikings want to smell good. Luckily Armani can get the job done for them.
You can purchase this cologne through Perfumania by clicking here.
5. American Bar Book
Vikings love to get their drink on, as long as it's a manly mix.
What better way to educate them on their favorite booze than gifting a bar book with great recipes!?
I have this book from Barnes & Noble. You can find it buy click here.
What are your creative father's day gift ideas?
Zero brilliant ideas! Hmmmm.... must think of something though. Can't. Brain dead. No Jaxification going on right now. Another time maybe.
ReplyDeleteZero, zilch, nada? Jaxification isn't always that reliable ;) lol
DeleteI think the real problem was that I had just woken up. Also my dad wanted shirts... so all I could see were buttons and collars.
DeleteLOL Blaming your sleep??? ;)
DeleteLol, well, surely you didn't think that *I* was going to take the blame? What sort of Lady in Red would I be??? ;-)
DeleteViking birthdays are easy, all they eat is roast ox and drink mead. As for presents, they can never have enough edged weapons.
ReplyDeleteRoast ox? How do you roast an ox?! Mead??? I never heard of that one. lol
DeleteMy Dad's impossible to buy for. I don't remember the last thing we got him that he didn't return for store credit.
ReplyDeleteWe've recorded our podcast, but it's a bit over 75 minutes long. Is that too long?
I've been impatiently waiting for Jax to wake up so that she could respond to this first - but it wasn't working out for me ;-)
Delete75 minutes of awesomeness! I can't wait!!! Some blogs post podcasts that long but I feel like people may not always have the time to listen to the whole thing. Would it be possible to divide it into three segments?
In fact, you know what would be a genius idea? Divide it into three. Let Jax post the first one because she has such a big following and maybe more people will be hooked. Then, a few days or a week later, Michael or Rusty posts the next segment on their blog, and then a week after that Rusty or Michael posts the final. Each time a podcast is posted everyone announces it on their own blogs to get maximum coverage lol.... ok... please do it this way. It would be so much fun!
I wonder if the Viking would like a sexy Aussie podcast? No, you're right. I suppose not.
75 minutes is certainly not too long. I will have zero complaints about two Aussies recording a long podcast for my listening please ;) lol
DeleteLady in Red's idea is good as well.
You get the final say, Michael. What would you like to do? If it's easier to e-mail me, then you can do that as well.
Thanks so much for doing it! You and Rusty are the best!!!!
Yeah that sounds like the best way to do it. Jax can put up the first section, Lady in Red can Put up the second and Rusty and I can each put up the third. Providing people are still awake by that point.
DeleteOk, perfect! I'll be waiting for it in my inbox so that we can get this started ;) Can't wait to hear what you boys came up with. How far into it do you guys read off our list??? lol
DeleteGreat! :) I'm really looking forward to this!
DeletePrepare to lower your expectations people
DeletePretty much straight away.
DeleteLol... even this makes me laugh. I'm sure you guys will be great!
DeleteYou guy could be saying hi over and over again and I wouldn't be disappointed ;) lol
DeleteCORN HOLE BABY!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteCorn who? what? why?! lol
DeleteI Like Just Keepin it Real!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
DeleteYes, we all do. Now who's going to translate for me??? lol
DeleteAcqua Di Gio, great idea.
ReplyDeleteOhh, my favorite man scent. So yummy!
DeleteI'd enjoy only the perfume, but maybe not even that, since I'm extremely difficult when it comes to perfumes and have never actually found a right one for moi :)
ReplyDeleteYou just buy me a huge box of black tea or some healthy food things and you're done with a present for moi :)
I do usually buy coffee or capucinno for my dad, since that man has no interests whatsoever beside drinking coffee and staring at the TV :)
Oh, Dez, you're so sophisticated!! I love it!!! If I ever need a date to a ball, I would be honored if you would accompany me :)
DeleteBlack tea and healthy food? Yum!! Coffee is always a great gift for the vikings out there. :)
I have a fire pit, a keurig and Aqua Di Gio. I prefer Bvulgari fragrances though. xo
ReplyDeleteBama, you're like a Viking already in action!!! Now you just need to memorize John Pinette's stand up verbatim and you'll be ready for war. ;)
DeleteI love how smell aqua de Gio is delicious.
ReplyDeleteLike the coffe maker too. I find all your ideas lovely!
My dad love to read too.And for a man who loves cook maybe some delicious seasoning like. An special sea salt or green peppers or capers jar eyc etc is only an idea; love yours s big hug to the viking:)
Yes, Gloria! It's so yummy!! I smell it on a man and have a hard time controlling myself ;) lol
DeleteOhh, that's a great idea!! How about a subrsciption to the olive oil club? They always have the best oils!!
The Viking appreciates it :)
The viking love to cook Jax??
DeleteYou dont strhave to go to see my post Jax is about strawberries:(
work a lot with japaneses:(
DeleteThe Viking does love to cook! He makes a great Italian gravy. Yum :)
DeleteStrawberries??? eep!!!
And yes those Japanese keep me wayyy too busy sometimes!!!
I told and a day you would ecplain me why you scared the poor strawberries.Anyway I love polenta too I used a lot.
DeleteWhat nice. The viking cooking lol
I've been thinking about this for days. I bought my dad a kindle fire for his birthday so probably an amazon gift card is appropriate. Boring right?
ReplyDeleteA kindle is a great gift! Yes, the amazon card is a little boring, but at least it fits ;)
DeleteLol, I hope the fish were nice, innocuous goldfish. :)
ReplyDeleteOf course the fish were nice. They are always nice!! :)
DeleteNot at all bad ideas, I'll have to buy myself that coffee maker at some point. And John Pinette is great, glad you showed me his stuff. As far as gifts go, those closets don't require anything so I can have zero, zilch and nadda hahaha
ReplyDeleteYes, get the coffee make and give it to Pat. I mean, you do get Pat gifts, right cat??? lol
DeletePfft the cat gives him all the gifts he could ever need, in a nice big litter box, even buries them too.
DeleteLMAO That a boy... ;) lol
DeleteLovely gifts and unique and different. Not regular daddy ties and glow in dark shoes and screaming watches.
ReplyDeleteMy dad is more of cellphone addict, he treasures them but needs a new and updated one all the time. But perfume seems to be good.
Oh I can't give another tie or golf ball ever again!!! It makes me feel sad to think that men get sort of jipped in the world of creative gifts. LOL
DeleteCellphone addicts can rock some trendy accessories ;)
LOVE Acqua Di Gio.
ReplyDeleteI got my dad a pair of 501's. Apparently his size is hard to find in stores and since he's in his 70s, he hasn't quite figured out that you can get them on the internetses.
Right? Acqua di Gio really get me going!! I love it so much!!
Delete501s? I need to look that up! What is it?
What if I want the firepit and Keurig, lol.
ReplyDeleteLMAO Then buy those for yourself and opt for the other 3 for daddy ;)
DeleteMy hubby is so easy to buy for every year. The only thing is that his birthday and Father's Day always fall within the same week! This year he's getting a Birthday Muffin (see sidebar, thanks Jax!!) and a therapy pillow because he keeps trying to steal mine at night along with gift cards from Barnes and Noble and Sears...power tools - a man's best friend!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear that the hubby is easy to buy for :) Oh yes, I can't wait to hear what he though about the muffin! I hope he loves it. What flavor did you get?
DeleteTherapy pillow? What a great idea!! Don't let a man steal your pillow ;) hahahaha
This is just what I was looking for, Thanks! I don't have a creative bone in my body so trying to think of gift ideas is never easy. I was thinking the stand up comedy dvd would be good, he has everything else. It's so hard to think of something he'd love :/
ReplyDeleteOh, glad that I could help! John Pinette is my all time favorite comedian. I could repeat his stand ups verbatim. I saw him live twice already too. Love him and I'm sure that your daddy will too!
DeleteHe's not vulgar either so don't feel awkward to watch it with your viking :)
Love the ideas! Pumpkin pancakes sounds amazing. :)
ReplyDeleteOhh, pumpkin pancakes are so yum!
DeleteI didn't even realize it was almost Father's Day. Whoops. ._.;
ReplyDeleteEep!! Good thing you have me ;) lol
DeleteMy father has passed away so I'm off the hook for the rest of my life!! (I know I should be sad, but that wouldn't be funny now would it?).
ReplyDeleteThe Viking is such a great nickname for you father Jax. It's tough but in some way it's so sweet coming from you. He's a lucky man to have a daughter as good as the one he has.
I'm sorry to hear that Anne xo
DeleteThe Viking is a perfect nickname for him. lol If you met him in person you would see that it surprisingly fits perfectly. lol!! Thanks for the compliments. That means a lot to me!!
SIQ POST BRO
ReplyDeleteUm, thanks? lol
DeleteI wouldn't mind some of those gifts for myself
ReplyDeleteLOL Right? How cool does a fire pit party with the bar book guide sound?? lol
DeleteI love the fire pit idea! I got my dad some pumpkin butter and a hand-carved Cardinal made from wood and hand-painted :)
ReplyDeletePumpkin butter?? Yum!!
DeleteMy father has been gone for 16 years now, so I never got to experience a real fathers day.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to hear that Adam. Must be a rough time for you... xo
DeleteGot to get my old man that bar book...actually screw that I've got to get that bar book from which I can make him a cool drink :)
ReplyDeleteThat bar book is awesome!! I can't even tell you how many times I reference it ;)
Deletehey Jax! these are great ideas... you totally seem to be the kind of person that puts a lot of thought when searching for gifts. yay to that! it makes you very special! now i think you went a lil far with the bonsai tree! i mean, he´s a viking right? LOL i´m sure you were trying to help him find "inner peace" (see kung fu panda).
ReplyDeletei think the coffee machine is an excellent idea! i know for a fact my dad would LOVE that! :D
in my case, because my dad lives alone and hasn´t got a gf at the moment y tend to give him the things he fails to understand he needs. haha such as a new bathmat, new cushions to replace the thinned out horrible old ones and SOCKS! that man can never have too many socks. :) so i try to focus on the lil things that he doesn´t see.
XO!
Jannine

Aww, girl, you're such a good daughter!!! Yes, daddys have a hard time with some of these things. Bathroom rugs? They probably wouldn't even think twice about it! lol
DeleteOk, so the bonsai tree was a little bit overboard. It even came with a little Japanese man statue fishing on the roots. LOL
Last Sunday, I was in a panic that it might have been Father's Day, and I missed it. Anyway, I got my gift semi-early so I would be prepared. Ok..ok..I will tell you what it is. The movie "Omega Man" starring Charleton Heston.
ReplyDeleteWell, at least you didn't miss it ;) lol Omega Man? Oh, I have to look it up. Let me know if it's any good!
DeleteOooh...those are all great ideas! Haven't gotten The Mister anything yet! Need to get busy! ha.
ReplyDeleteI would love to get a fire pit! I was just thinking the other day about how much I would like to have one of these. Of course, I would also need a backyard of my own in which it put it.
ReplyDeleteThe fire pit is such a good idea! I am going to ask for one for my birthday! I love the smell.
ReplyDeletethose keurig's are nice! there was one in our hotel room.
