Someone dear to me has finally gotten the courage to ask out the girl of his dreams.
I'm ecstatic to say that this story has a happy ending!
Mind out of the gutter people. Ok, thanks...
Things have been going well, but the person dear to me has run out of date ideas!
There is just one problem. This person cannot afford to constantly dish out hefty sums of dough in order to keep his woman happy. That's when he came to me for some solid advice!
Guess he got word about my awesome and extremely helpful lists! ;)
Here are 10 Cheap Date Ideas.
1. Walk
I know, it's totally cliche, but it's a classic for a reason!
Taking a girl for a walk around a nice, scenic area is not only romantic, but it's great exercise! She'll love you for pumping the communication juice and be grateful for those calories burned.
2. Car
Washing the car may not sound like a great date idea, but it's actually loads of fun. It opens doors for play and flirting! Clearly, this idea is dependent upon nice weather. Don't make the poor girl do this in the rain.
Besides, in the end your cars will be shining!!
3. Coach Potato
Put on the PJs, pour the wine, and bust out the movie marathon!
Want some extra fun? Pick out a favorite actor or theme with your dvds.
Hellooo snuggle time!
4. Monopoly
Being the extremely competitive person I am, I totally enjoy Monopoly dates!
Bust out the wine and dip. Then lay out the stakes! Loser has to do something naughty.
Don't like Monopoly? Try Battle Of the Sexes!
5. Farmers Market
Fresh fruit and cheese samples in the midst of a great atmosphere sounds like a lovely date!
Be adventurous and dare each other to test new foods.
6. Adventure
Pick a nearby city that neither of you have ever been. Get in the car and drive! You can do a walking tour and really grasp the feel for the city. You never know, you could stumble upon a new spot!
Some of the best times are the result of a spontaneous adventure!
7. Cooking
Pick a random recipe and then divvy up the duties. Cook a fancy meal while blasting the music.
I mean, who doesn't like to bust into song and dance after chopping up veggies? I do!!
8. Amateur Comedians
Some schools or comedy clubs have amateur comedians put on shows for practice. They are free to view and fun to attend! I mean, if they are bad, you may end up laughing at how horrible their jokes are!
9. Darts
Go to that little, hole in the wall bar in your town. Order a cheap drink and play a competitive game of darts! Have fun with the winner's prize as well.
Once you start hitting the wall instead of the dart board, you may want to put the drink down!
10. Haunted
Drive around to all the different "real" haunted houses in your area! See if you can spook each other out. Some of the best times on a date happen b/c someone got a little spooked!
In high school boys used to take me to "haunted" cemeteries or the Amittyville Horror house. Freaky!

Jax. Great list. Concerts in the Park is a great place to enjoy a picnic (wine, crackers and cheese) while listening to a free concert.
ReplyDeleteOh, that's a great idea as well!!! Thanks for the suggestion ;)
DeleteThe Farmers Market is a brilliant idea but I've got doubts about the car washing scheme. I once took a girl to the Walthamstow greyhound racing track in London. The food and beer was cheap and we put small amounts of money on each race so there was lots of excited jumping up and down and shouting at dogs.
ReplyDeletehahahaha The car washing is fun!! You end up getting soaking wet from the hose. LOL
DeleteGreyhound racing? I've never done that, but I've had similar experiences with horse racing. Love that idea!
I love the farmers market idea, and love concerts in the park, about cooking. I woul love he cook something to me, Any thing, anyway if is a really sexy man dont matter what we make ha,ha
ReplyDeletenice stuff Jax!
hahahaha Gloria, a man should cook for you after all the yummy things you're always putting out on the table ;)
DeleteOh, a sexy man??? You're right! The sexy men can cook w/e they please... hahahaha
you can laugh dear but always fins sexy a man that cook LOL
DeleteBut is really sexy is not matter we eat LOL
I totally agree!!!! Talk about Yum ;) lol
DeleteSome great ideas indeed here at your feed. Some of the best times come from simple and random.
ReplyDeleteIf she or sometimes he lol always wants expensive. Nothing but a gold digger.
Yes, simple and random are the way to go!!!
DeletePat, you're just not the same without your picture =(
DeleteHope all is well on your travels!
Still sitting here bored and yeah the phone and the pic r just a pain
DeletePat we want you have to be always you LOL
Deletewe want Pat!
we want Pat!
LOL The no picture aint very popular, is it? haha
DeleteI actually love not seeing his hairy armpits :))
DeleteThose are great idea! My husband and I have done quite a few of these, and even though some might seem simple, they're fun. What a great list!
ReplyDeleteThey are so much fun!!! Love them :)
DeleteThe Amityville Horror House! Classic. I had a friend in high school who painted the outside...but nothing scary happened. =(
ReplyDeleteSomeone the other day suggested you starting a dating advice column - I think they were right, Jax, you have some brilliant ideas, chickie
You're friend PAINTED that house/?!? Oh my!! You know what always freaked me out? Sleep Hollow Road in Huntington. Have you ever gone there? Or the Pilgrim Psychiatric center. I used to drive through there to get to school. Shivers!!!!
DeleteA dating column? Oh, that would be nice! But, I don't know where to start!! hahaha
I worked at Pilgrim LMAO!!!!! When they were doing construction on the wings...I worked for a contractor out there...
DeleteYou WORKED at Pilgrim???? Oh my!!!!!!!!!!!! I shit myself driving at night through there.
DeleteHmmm I think cooking a meal together would be fun - nice opportunities for fun flirty moments as you work around each other. And what about going for a swim? Beach... lake... pool... wherever. Always nice!
ReplyDeleteOh, I like to lay next to water but I'm not a swimmer. Great tio though. Biff will love itt!!!! :D
DeleteI love to spend time in beach. And car drive is a good one. Not sure about cooking together though. Botanical garden, planetarium are other cheap attractions maynt be zoo and stuff.
ReplyDeleteAs usual good list
Botanical garden... nice!
DeleteGreat tips!!! Botanical garden sounds pretty n peaceful :)
DeleteWe love to cook dinner together and then watch a movie or a show on the couch. That's pretty standard for most nights, but it's best when we plan out the meal and have it to look forward to :)
ReplyDeleteOhh, so nice!! Yes, the meal is the best part ;)
Deleteokay, each one of these I was like "omg, good idea!!!" I especially love the walk one (because I LOVE walks, especially in the summer. I can't get enough) and the car wash idea because I seriously have SO much fun washing my car in the heat. And you're right, easy flirting opportunity!
ReplyDeleteThough I don't know if this is good for dating rather than boyfriend but my ex and I belonged to the same gym so on weeknights when we wanted to "get out" we usually had gym dates and we would go to the gym, do some heart-thumping cardio seperately and then meet up and workout together in a fun way- like basketball, racquetball or swimming. It was always really fun, free and good for us. win-win!
LOL Easy flirting opportunity is the best type of dates ;)
DeleteI think that the gym is a great idea! Especially the sports. It allows for flirty competition :)
ps except Monopoly! I love the board game idea but oh em gee... that game is neverending! I would go with Cribbage :)
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of cribbage. I'm going to have to check that out!!
DeleteFor one of our first dates the wife and I went to an expensive furniture store and pretended we were a rich married couple shopping for a complete furniture set. We were acting like completely different people and having pretend fights, disagreements, etc. It was a blast.
ReplyDeleteOh, that does sound fun!!! What a great way to get know each other and make funny memories. LOL
DeleteI'm with you on all of them except washing the car. I think the adventure one is so good. Day trips to the foothills near my house always make for a good time. You can just pack a cheap lunch and go.
ReplyDeleteThe adventure one is my favorite!! Love exploring new places and making memories :)
DeleteAwesome list Miss relationship specialist. Cooking together and a walk in the park sound great. I'm also a fan of board games. Poker would be fun too. You can use poker chips instead of money. Who knows, if you really like each other, it can certainly lead to strip poker..........
ReplyDeleteLOL Miss relationship specialist? haha Idk, about that!! ;)
DeleteCooking together is so fun! Board games are just as fun! But poker, Idk how to play that. Well, I suppose teaching someone how to play poker has to be just as interesting. LOl
These are all fantastic ideas! I've always gone for one and six myself.
ReplyDelete#6 is my favorite one! Adventures always lead to great memories :)
DeleteI love going for a walk and think a lot of really interesting conversations come when wandering along. I also love cooking with my hubby. Going to see a band play is good, although not great for the conversation :)
ReplyDeleteInteresting conversation is the best part of everything :)
DeleteYou must be really creative to come up with this list, seriously when I take a girl on a date its like dinner and a movie every time. I need to start using some of these ideas. Although I'll be honest, #2 is kind of crazy LOL. If I told my date we're going to wash my car she might laugh and think I'm joking, until I bring out the bucket of water and tell her to get started LOL. I must be dating the wrong girls though, the last girl I dated wouldn't be down for trying any of this.
ReplyDeleteCreative? Maybe a little... ;) lol
DeleteReally? I think that washing the car is a fun date, especially in the summer time! Anything can be made fun with the right perspective!
Phil and I live for cheap dates. It's the only way we can go on them. Let's see we have gone to the duck pond and fed the ducks/sea gulls. It gives us time to talk and bond while showing me he's sensitive enough to feed animals. Local bread stores often sell old bread as duck food for a 1 a bag.
ReplyDeletePicnics are always fun and can be spontaneous and fun. Especially in odd places. Treasure hunts. Make a list and each person gets half. You have to go together. Get your picture taken with a complete stranger is always a good treasure hunt idea. Things of that nature. Hope your friend has a blast!
I didn't know that about the bakeries, but that totally makes sense! What would they do with the stale bread anyways?? LOL Ever get attacked by 1000 ducks? Oh that scares me!!! hahahaha
DeleteTreasure hunts are a great idea!!! I'm going to try that!!
awww, good for your friend. i'm a homebody, so i always loved chilling at home, watching tv and vegging at home, prior to getting married. :)
ReplyDeletegreat cheap date tips, j!
Nothing wrong with being a home body ;) lol
DeleteI wrote a couple of years ago on cheap dates. Just do a search a roo
ReplyDeleteI'm going to search right now!
DeleteAwwe, how cute for your friend! I laughed so hard at the happy ending comment. These are great tips/date ideas. I always love going to a random city/village and just wandering around. I'm not much of a planner, so anything spontaneous speaks to me! Excellent post, doll.
ReplyDeleteLOL Glad I got you to laugh :)
DeleteRight? The adventure of exploring a random city it just so fun!! :)
Very nice list! I've always thought the amount of money spent on a date doesn't determine how great it is. Simple and cheap seem so much more fun...and relaxed! Hope your friend has a great time...and many more dates!
ReplyDeleteI always sing in the kitchen...dancing and singing in my wooden spoon mic. lol....
(only when home alone, though!)
Biff took her on a cheap date around a colonial village we have here. It's like a museum and they have live animals. They had a blast!!!! He loved the list too and can't wait to try some of our suggestions :)
DeleteLOL Love that you sing in the kitchen. So fun!! hahaha
Going to a free art show or outdoor concert could be fun as well!
ReplyDeleteSounds fun!! I think I'm going to start looking into art museums. Word is eclectic people hang out there :)
DeleteI'm also overly ecstatic and happy that someone dear to you has finally gotten the courage to ask out the girl of his dreams :PPPP
ReplyDeleteI'm ever so proud...
LOL Glad that you're proud ;) They've gone out a few times now and it seems like they've really hit it off! I wish them the best. He deserves it!! Besides, if she hurts him I may have to beat her her up ;) lol
DeleteI've already signed on for the Dezzy McPhee role! I've even gotten me a flying umbrella and I'm speaking only posh British.... I shall be fake British nanny to the kids of that lucky couple :))
DeleteOne of my favorite things to do with my boyfriend are game nights - especially when I kick his butt at Monopoly ;-)
ReplyDeleteGame nights are so fun!! I love Monopoly ;)
DeleteI love going for walks around where I live...canals, castles, woods...they all make great back drops for spending quality time with that special someone
ReplyDeleteWalks are so fun! You have canals and castles? Oh my!! So jealous :)
DeleteI just remember when my hubby and I used to date then. It was still in Paris.. you could imagine.. walking, park and metro.. hehehe :)
ReplyDeleteParis? You dated in Paris?!?!?!?! Ohh, I'd walk around all day long!!! So jealous :)
Deleteyes dear, we met when I was still living in Paris.
Deleteand for LOVE I moved to Italy :)
Sweet I needed this thanks!
ReplyDeleteOh, glad I could help :)
DeleteMy girlfriend made me play monopoly so much I puke at the thought of it.
ReplyDeleteReally? That's how I feel about Braveheart!!!! lol
DeleteThose are all great suggestions. Sometimes, I think... Well what's stopping me? I should just go out and find the girl of my dreams, and ask her out. Then I remember I am poor,..and maybe I should just work on making myself unpoor for the time being. But this post goes to show you, that plenty of good times can be had on a pauper's salary.
ReplyDeleteYes, this is true!! Besides, if a woman is after your money, you don't want her anyways ;) It's more about the thought you put into the date than the amount of money you spent on it.
DeleteI am definitely a fan of your #3. I love just hanging out like that, and I guess it does make it nice that it is relatively cost-free :)

ReplyDeletehEY Jax!
ReplyDeletewhat an inventive yet awesome list you´ve come up with! It´s hard to come up with new ones once you´ve covered the basics and more!
something that became popular in Argentina is discount coupons. maybe not for a first date, but these coupons can save you a lot of money but still delivering all the goods. My BF and I used to go to this amazing italian restaurant that had a 40% off on wednesdays. the food was wonderful, but when we had to pay it wasn´t as painful.
i don´t know how much this costs in the US but going bowling is also something to consider and shouldn´t be expensive. it´s a LOT of fun and it´s not something than will be over in 5 minutes!
if the weather´s nice you can also plan a picnic! bring stuff from home, like cards and dice to play different games and a also pack a basket full of yummy things! :)
XO Jannine
